Do Body Kits
Look Good? Should I get one? I personally think that body kits
look great depending on the type and style that you
get. You can easily get the stock RS type kit from
many different companies, like SLP, RKSport, Wings
West, etc. They are pretty pricey starting around
$500 bucks, but that can add that stylish look to
any f-body that doesn't already have ground effects.
We say if you got the bucks, it's one of the better
exterior appearance mods.
Neon Lights, Ideas
on How to Incorporate Them onto Your Car There are lots of
ways to incorporate neon lights onto your car without it looking
"RICEY"! One
key factor to doing this is, don't go overboard. I have seen many good looking
designs for neon on Camaros. One was, they put neon right behind the headlights
(only on 93-97 models), so that the neon showed threw the back of the
headlights, gave the front of the car a luminous effect that looked awesome. I
have also seen cars with a neon light on the back, right by the license plate,
with the vinyl cut-out letters in the CAMARO, so it looked awesome because it
highlighted the letters. They are various ways to do this, be creative and
don't go overboard!
Wheels, what
do they look like on different Camaro's? There are tons of rims
that you can get. Also, a matter of personal taste. Rims, which can be
expensive, take a lot of time and consideration. You don't want to get stuck
with ugly looking rims that nobody likes. So, what do you do? Compare to see
what they look like on other Camaros or Firebirds. The best way to do it is ask
your friends, and show them pictures of the rims that you want to get. But as a
helper, there will be pictures on this site soon of different rims on various
cars. Also, a recommendation from me, go 17" X 8" Rims!!!
Spoiler choices,
what's the point of a bigger one? This is a very touchy
subject. A lot of the exterior mods are very personally opinionated, and can
turn out to be "RICEY" if you are not careful. That is the last thing you want
to do to your Camaro or Firebird, look RICEY. A small spoiler, but not too
small, and not too large, is perfect. I will show you some examples of what
should look good, and what could be considered
"RICEY". I really like the OEM
SS Spoiler that they put on the 98-00 Camaro's. If you have a V6 Camaro, that
would definitely be the choice if you are planning to change the stock
one!
Grille
replacement, what brands are available? There are not very many
brands available of grille replacements. Billet makes a great one. They are
polished and fit right over the stock grille. They are made for all forth
generation Firebirds and Camaros, and are not that hard to install. DG
Motorsports sells a cool grille insert for the 93-97 Camaro's that replaces the
two fog lights with for small ones. The insert includes the cutout's for the
lights, and the lights mounted! It looks sweet...
Fog Lights,
what do different brands look like? Many brands available, the
best looking ones are the very thin, very wide ones. Mount they at the same
place that would be stock. Installation varies on each system, so I cannot go
into detailed installation instructions. The fog light assemblies should come
with easy to follow directions. Fog lights add a nice touch to your car.
Personally I like the OEM fog lights.
Should I Shave the Door Handles on my
car? I have never actually seen this done on a Camaro or
Firebird, but the idea is to make it more aerodynamic, and eliminates the door
handles all together. I haven't quite gotten an idea of what this would look
like on a Camaro, nor do I have any pictures of it done. If you have any
pictures, or experience please email
us.
What about
Headlight Covers? Do they look good? Yes, they are available,
but are not smart, unless you have a FPIK. On a 93-97 model Camaro, the air
induction gets its air from through the headlights. Therefore, if you cover up
the headlights then there is no air getting into the air system, therefore
bogging your engine. If your just doing it for looks, they look great! The
98-00 cars have no problems, since they changed the headlights!
What do taillight covers
look like? Taillight covers look great.
I have them installed on my car. I really like the design of them, but if you
get GT Styling covers, take the GTS symbols off of them. All you need is a
little rubbing alcohol and the glue comes right off!
Inserts for the CAMARO on
the rear of the car? Reflective Concepts
makes the greatest cutouts. They are computer cut so they are an exact fit ...
and look great. I think they are the best looking thing that you can do to the
exterior of your car. Their website has pictures and tons of different
colors. You can also get inserts from RKSport.
I want CAMARO badges, what are
available? There are plenty of different designers that make
Camaro badges. You can buy kits from RKSport that have Camaro emblems. I think
that the best emblem that you could buy is one off a 1997 Grand Am, it says
3800-V6. I have one on my car, it cost about $5.00 and can be found at any
Chevy or Pontiac dealer.
What are
the classifications of being "ricey"? There are few
classifications. Many are the obvious, but some are
suttle. Here's a list of
what I personally think is ricey!
- Wings / Tall Spoilers
- Neon Crazy
- Decals and Emblems all over
- Tinny sounding exhaust
- 4-Cylinders (hehe, can't do this to an f-body)
- 5" - 6" Exhaust Tips
- Those ugly rice-rocket rims!
Hood Accessories and
Hoods You have choices between hoods. There are non-functioning
hoods, and fully functioning hoods. Both make no difference on V6 F-bodies, but
cost about $200 - $300 more for the fully functional hoods. There are also the
coolest hood grill inserts made by billet that replace the black stock inserts
and make them polished stainless steal. They look great, I am thinking about
getting some for my car.
